Tengyun Zhang (She/They) is a Ph.D. student whose research focuses on Pure Land Buddhism and Buddhist visual history in late Qing and Republican China. She holds a degree in English Literature and Philosophy from Nankai University and a Master's in East Asian Languages and Cultures from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her doctoral minors are in Japanese religions and library and information science, the latter driven by both an interest in the politics of memory and a belief that our time of information crisis demands new strategies for what we preserve and how. She is a Shin Buddhist practitioner. In her leisure time, she enjoys horror movies, boxing, traveling, and anime.
