Sami Mosher is a Ph.D. candidate specializing in medieval Japanese religions, with particular focus on the roles of oni 鬼 (ogres; demons) in the twelfth-century Jigoku zōshi 地獄草子 (Hell Scrolls). She is currently completing a year-long fellowship through the Japan Foundation as a visiting researcher at Waseda University and will return to the University of Arizona in spring 2027. She received her M.A. in East Asian Studies from the University of Utah and her B.A. in Fine Art from Weber State University. Her hobbies include consuming copious amounts of caffeine, drawing, reading, and spending time with her three needy cats.
