I am a Roman Catholic Priest and was a monk for thirty years. My education gave me a love for learning that led me to become the editor of our monastic community's quarterly journal. I left monastic life in 2005. My Oriental Studies degree (Middle East), as well as my Spanish studies have benefitted me since then as I work for Cross Catholic Outreach: I visit parishes and raise money to support overseas relief and development projects. My studies of Arabic and Islam give me background for my interreligious efforts to improve understanding between Jews, Christians, and Muslims. I write regularly on this topic as well as on desert spirituality at www.sandandsky.org
