Kimberly Jones (Ph.D., University of Michigan) is the Associate Dean of the College of Humanities and a Professor of East Asian Studies at the University of Arizona. She directed the University of Arizona Japanese language program for many years and has also served as department head of East Asian Studies. A sociolinguist, she is particularly interested in how language pedagogy can be informed by the analysis of naturally occurring talk, and in children's language acquisition, attrition, and code-switching. Nationally, she has served on the board of the Association of Teachers of Japanese and as Language and Linguistics Editor of Japanese Language and Literature, and is currently a co-chair of the Development Committee for the Advanced Placement Japanese Language and Culture examination.
