Nicholas Houlson is originally from Saint Paul, Minnesota. He is an M.A. student majoring in Chinese History and Literature with an interest in Chinese Religion. He was a double major at the University of Minnesota, Morris, where he studied History and Philosophy. His current research interests are classical Chinese novels, such as Journey to the West and Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and the development of those novels and their place within Chinese culture. Additional interests include the relationship between these classified novels and the greater body of tradition from which they drew inspiration, as well as their depiction in current East Asian media.
